I just discovered the AWAKENING of your blog!
Thank you so much for all these precious uploads!!

I have a question!

Do you have - by any chance - the live version of Karajan's
Missa Solemnis from 1966?

Beethoven: Missa Solemnis op. 123
Live recording. Rec. at Berlin, 1966-02-26.
Cast: Fritz Wunderlich, Gundula Janowitz (soprano), Christa Ludwig (contralto), Walter Berry (bass), Michael Schwalbé (violin solo), Singverein der Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde Wien, Berliner Philharmoniker, cond. Herbert von Karajan

At Tower Records in the 90s, I had the CD (ARKADIA/HUNT)in my hand -
I always regretted not buying it!

Again, thanks for all your (re-)uploads!!!

Most importantly: STAY HEALTHY!!!

Barak

This is an EXCEPTIONALLY valuable contribution! Many thanks!!

AFAIK, after making great efforts to find out, the transfers from acetates originally came from the single largest repository of SK BSO material in the USA, "liberated" in the 1980s. Consequently, the rather primitive, unedited transfers from early AS-Disks caused consternation to "The Powers That Be" and eventually, apparently the distributors were pressured into withdrawing them. These particular items of Prokofiev are all network line checks from the 5 kHz NBC Radio circuits, and consequently have no "highs" above 5 k, except for the transients of the clicks on the transcription disks.

Unfortunately, the CUE file for the original archive uploaded on this blog does not work properly. An examination of the FLAC shows a spurious nonstandard data segment. The "fix" was to convert back to WAV and then use a standard FLAC converter. Then, for my convenience, I separated this into separate tracks. I also converted the "stereo" FLAC files into single-channe mono files, since the original bcast data was single-channel mono. I made two versions, one having FLAC tracks at the same resolution as the original upload, and one with mp3 tracks with lower res for my little portable players. I have taken the trouble to make a limited-time (30 day availability) Zippyshare file of both folders:

Oh, BTW: in addition to the previous comments I posted with the link to the "alternative" modified upload, I ran the original tracks thru ONE pass of light declicking which, to my taste, seemed beneficial.
