+ Overture Leonore I, op. 138
BBC Symphony Orchestra
ARTURO TOSCANINI

Studio - London, Queen's Hall, June 1, 1939

According to the book "More EJS: discography of the Edward J. Smith recordings" by W. Shaman, W.J. Collins and C. M. Goodwin (1999) the correct date is august 16, 1936 and the performance has been misdated in several sources (24 july, 26 august etcetera).

Note: Unfortunately, the little "jump" at the beginning (0:31) of the overture is present in all the available sources.

The correct date for Leonore n. 1 is June 1, 1939

IMPORTANT UPDATE: In the comment section you can find a link to a new source (with Leonore's Aria), kindly provided by Historic Opera.
Thanks a lot!

Schubert - Mass D950 - Clemens Krauss

I must confess... never loved particularly the last Mass by Schubert.
Neither Giulini, nor Boehm, Abbado, Sawallisch had convinced me.
Finally I heard this recording by Clemens Krauss and I've definitely changed my mind.

Note:
I know, Leonore 3 was already included in the same Toscanini upload, but (since there was still a little space) here you can listen for an alternative source.

Rare Toscanini 003: Die Walküre (Act I, scene 3) Rehearsals

Wagner
Die Walküre Act I, scene 3
Rose Bampton - Set Svanholm

I've in project several uploads before starting the tour-de-force with NBC studio/live recordings, but rehearsal sequences are "things" living in a world apart.

Listening for these 2 hours and 15 minutes (approx) of Wagner rehearsals captured in april 1947 we understand what we have lost not having a complete Ring conducted by Toscanini.
