Cantelli Centenary 2 - Stravinsky

STRAVINSKY
Le Chant du Rossignol
Jeu de Cartes
Feu d'Artifice

NBC Symphony Orchestra
GUIDO CANTELLI

Three of the four Stravinsky scores that Cantelli had in his repertoire.
No surviving recordings of the fourth, the Symphony of Psalms.
Very interesting that he had not started his exploration - unfortunately abruptly interrupted - from more "usual" works,
like the first three famous ballet masterpieces...

FLAC (scans with details included)

Thanks, "Guido", for the magnificent performances by Cantelli from the AS-DISK transfer.

At one point, I had in my collection a copy of an audio cassette dub, from an east-coast collector, of the original WNBC-FM broadcasts of the NBC Stravinsky performances by Cantelli. I no longer have it, but the sound was INFINITELY better than the AS-DISK, which tends to be shrill in the upper mids, and lossy on both high and low ends of the spectrum.

Unfortunately, the Music & Arts CD boxed set is actually MUCH WORSE than the AS-Disk; I cannot even listen to those pieces in that particular transfer.

Based on my recollection of what the old audio tape sounded, I have reprocessed your AS-Disk upload, extending the spectrum; smoothing out sharp resonances; and greatly improving the transient response and "oomph" of the heavy bass and percussion passages. I thought your followers might just be interested in the result; it's rather SHOCKING (in my opinion, better!)

I have stayed with your FLAC's resolution but converted to a single track mono FLAC file. By doing some conversions to WAV and back to FLAC, I removed the spurious data at the start of your original FLAC that causes the CUE file to work improperly and not hit the tracks at the correct spots. So, all in all: I think a great improvement.

Unfortunately, I can't download the file because Norton and Google raise multiple, urgent security alarms at zippyshare.com (nothing new with zippy.) Do you have any alternate way of posting it? It certainly sounds interesting.
