Karajan and Czech PO Live 1971

A complete concert from the 1971 Salzburg Festival,

and a rare opportunity to listen to Karajan on the piano...

as long as you spot him :)

Seriously, I don't know if he has conducted this orchestra on other occasions

and if this document has already been published on some phantom CD.

Anyway, tell me your opinion.

BTW, In those days the orchestra was also conducted in Salzburg

by Böhm, Abbado and Neumann.

It seems that HvK used the Salzburg Festival for guest conducting opportunities without having to leave home. There's a concert of him conducting the Cleveland Orchestra, again at the Salz Fest....
Thanks for this!

Guido, thanks so much for this recording. The Bach piece is new to me... not often you have a concerto for four pianos. :) Much appreciated. Burt

SKy Raven: the Bach concerto is actually a transcription of Vivaldi's Op.3 No.10 concerto for 4 violins.

The Vivaldi is in B minor, Bach's concerto is in A minor.

In fact Bach transcribed six (i.e. 50%) of Vivaldi's Op.3: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keyboard_concertos_by_Johann_Sebastian_Bach#Concerto_in_A_minor_for_four_harpsichords,_BWV_1065

Ciao Guido
stay strong and safe

Franco

I am pleased to inform you of the opening of my new blog Concerts&ArchivesHD dedicated to historical recordings:
https://concertsarchiveshd.fr/
A greeting message is online as well as a first post dedicated to Fritz Busch.
I greatly appreciate your site on which I have downloaded some very rare recordings.
I wish you well for the future, in this particular field that has so much suffered from the Megaupload case.

Musically,

C&A HD
