Rodzinski conducts Prokofiev (1957-58)

Two documents that testify the high level of this orchestra in the 50s: after all, they usually worked with Walter, Furtwängler, Karajan, Barbirolli, Celibidache etcetera... and of course Rodzinski himself. The sound quality is more than good for the period and it's remarkable that Alexander Nevsky is sung in Russian (a few years earlier even the German Requiem had been performed by Walter in Italian!); the reading of the Fifth is perhaps more discontinuous but still remarkable, with beautiful moments and an exciting Finale.
