Opening Concert of the 1972-3 Sesason: the Symphony was performed by Ormandy in two parts with an interval after the First Movement.
Many precious/original details and the triumph of the gorgeous sound of the Philadelphians.
In that sense noteworthy is a Second Movement delightful an rich in singing: sometimes this is a weak point in readings of overall high level. The recording is very good, truly enjoyable and final radio announcements are included.
Unmissable for Ormandy enthusiasts (he never recorded in studio this work),
but of great interest to everyone.
