Wow, what a welcome Markevitch find! Markevitch is to me one of the greatest musicians ever. His performances are overwhelming in their raw, but carefully controlled, emotional power.

Markevitch was an amazing musician, composer (his popularity was at some stage compared to Bartok's!) and conductor of course.
He was the greatest supporter of Le Sacre du Printemps and even wrote how to conduct it at a time this piece remained difficult both for some conductors and orchestras.
I could see him conducting in Paris, what a lesson: every gesture was significant !!
