Rare Toscanini 024 - Beethoven 8 & 9 - NYPO, Toscanini




Here a complete NYPO concert given by Toscanini at the Carnegie Hall: march 8, 1936 - with broadcast announcements.
Plus a rare 8th with the BBC SO and Adrian Boult, HMV 1932, directly taken from a 78' set. Nice, nice material.

    Extraordinary 8th and 9th. I think each is the best I've ever heard. I had dreamed of hearing Toscanini and the NYPO in these symphonies ... and it lives up to expectations. Thanks!
