Elgar - The Dream of Gerontius - Barbirolli

I've 3 versions by Barbirolli. EMI is one of the best recordings ever made; there's a live in New York, recently published by  WHRA... also very, very good.
And this nov. 1957 Live in Rome... a third jewel.
With a young, awesome - apart from little mistakes - Jon Vickers.

Plus Berlioz Fantastique  - Hallé Orchestra, 1947

You have NO IDEA how much I love this work. The LP's were given to my mother as a gift from Barbirolli when he came to Buenos Aires in the mid-sixties with Hallé. I know it so well, I heard it when it arrived at home after my parents had attended that British Embassy dinner in honor of Sir John. BUT, this is HERE is THE BEST VERSION ever. The one I am missing is the New York one. If you could upload it here for me, it would be GREAT.
OH What a DAY! It is pouring with rain in Buenos Aires. And to have this in lossless is AMAZING.

@La Danse
Che ricordi interessanti, grazie.
Ah, dearest Glorious John! What a conductor.

Ok! His other live Gerontius is on the way.

May be a bit slowly...
but after all He's an old, weak man. :D
